The Art of Growing

Optimum diverse microclimates for the best Salinas Valley quality and yields. Growing areas include Gonzales, Chualar, Salinas, and Castroville.

Microclimates

90% of direct seeded crops are drip tape germinated and 90% of transplant crops are set by drip tape. This allows for even stands with less chance of patterns and disease. Crops irrigated with drip from start to finish create a healthier plant that leads to a longer shelf life.

New planting technology gives us the ability to precision place seed and get the best germination uniformity possible. Reducing the need for excess inputs, is one of the most effective methods of cost control available to farm operations.

    Our management actively participates in advising the Ground Water Sustainability Agency and Monterey County Water Resources. Our VP/General Manager also holds a seat on the board of the Central Coast Water Quality Preservation Inc. in an effort to protect our most important natural resource, our water.

    Our management team works with many different seed suppliers constantly trialing new varieties to move into commercial production with a focus on improved quality traits and updated disease resistance in each of the commodities we grow. Boutonnet Farms, Inc. grows only non-GMO varieties, disease and insect resistance are selectively bred into the crop we grow.
